Newton SGA holds open meeting

Newton Student Government Association held their weekly meeting on Aug. 27.  Some of SGA’s responsibilities are distributing student activity funds and organizing events. Students are invited to the open meeting, where they can observe how our student government discusses what needs to be done in order to strengthen the student body.

At the meeting, SGA made the decision to give $145 to GPC Reads, the campus book club, to buy books for their members. The extra books will be donated to Great Reading in Newton (GRIN), the other book club.

SGA also talked about future events they are planning for the Newton campus. A couple of events to look forward to are Minute-to-Win-It and Mafia Night.

Although SGA rarely cancels their meetings, they decided to cancel the one for next Friday, because of Labor Day weekend.

The Collegian will post more information on the activities at a later date.  What other events would you like SGA to host? Voice your opinion at www.colleginnews.com.
