Lady Jags advance to nationals

The Lady Jaguars dominated Spartanburg Methodist College in the NJCAA District J championship game. They will now move on to the NJCAA tournament, which takes place on March 15-19 in Salina, Kansas.

The Lady Jaguars won 99-48. After helping the team cut down the net, leading scorer Ry’van Buchanan said, “We all came out and played our heart out. Unfortunately, we couldn’t hit a hundred.”
Looking ahead to the national tournament, Ashley Robinson said, “We’re gonna win I promise you that. I’m not going with [any more] losses, I refuse to lose again.”
The win upped the Lady Jaguars record to 28 wins and 5 losses. Coach James Waldon, who was recently named region Coach of the Year, marveled at how far the Lady Jaguars have come since a 15-15 record last year. He said, “It feels good if you think about where we were at last year.”
GPC president Anthony Tricoli was at the game to see what will be the team’s last game at GPC for the season. He said, “I’m very proud of our Lady Jaguars. I wish them the best of luck in Kansas. They’re already winners in our eyes.”
