The Lady Jaguars Softball team had quite a start to their season with a 7-3 record after their loss to Columbia state on Feb. 26. The team appears to be on top of their game with domination in the Wallace State-Hanceville tournament, which took place in Alabama Feb. 26 and 27.
The team’s success can be attributed to Christina Ezell, the sophomore pitcher who struck out 50 hitters in 30 innings.
“I’ve never seen a pitcher dominate good teams like she did this weekend,” said GPC coach Ed Schutte, according to a GPC press release. “I don’t think there’s anybody better in the nation.”
The lady Jags will be competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association lead off classic March 4 and 5 in Panama city, Florida. The Team will look ahead to conference season starting on March 11 where the women will take on Abraham Baldwin in a home game at 4 p.m.
