Tricoli receives prestigous award

Staff Report

GPC President Dr. Anthony Tricoli has been awarded the Ralph S. Brown Award for Shared Governance by The American Association of University Professors. He is the sixth winner but the first two-year college president in the nation to be honored.
The Ralph S. Brown Award for Shared Governance is given to the candidate that receives outstanding accomplishments in the area of shared governance.
Tricoli was nominated by a handful of GPC faculty, who deemed him the epitome of the Ralph S. Brown Award for Shared Governance. Margee Bright Ragland, Faculty Senate Chair at GPC wrote in a recent press release, “Dr. Tricoli has united our once divided multi-campus college into one college.”
Dr. Julia Rux, president of the GPC chapter of the Georgia Association of Educators also wrote in the recent press release, “under Dr. Tricoli’s administration, our requests for transparency and representation have been met after years of faculty and students being left behind.”
Dr. Tricolli was honored with this award due to praise he received from his faculty for doing such an outstanding job. This is not an annual award. Only six individuals have been awarded in the last 12 years. According to GPC’s In the Loop, it is given to the candidate who goes above and beyond deserving to be singled out.
This award was established in 1998 in memory of Ralph S. Brown, who served as AAUP president and general counsel and headed many AAUP committees during his forty-four years of service to the Association.
In an email to The Collegian from Dr. Tricoli, he stated, “I owe a great debt of gratitude to each of the faculty members, professional and support staff and administrators at GPC for their willingness to let their guard down just long enough to see that we could be a better institution for our students.
