Jaguars suffocate Warriors with defense

By: Rhett Lewis

The GPC Jaguars rolled to an easy 84-48 victory over the Middle Georgia College Warriors on Thursday night at Panther Arena.

Their record now stands at 12-6, including an 8-2 mark in conference play.

The defense was stellar yet again, forcing 34 turnovers and holding the Warriors to 24% shooting from the field.

Fanny Cavallo recorded a double-double, finishing with 18 points on 9 of 14 shooting while also grabbing 13 rebounds.

Sophomore forward, Kamiya Burwell, led the Jags in scoring.  The Bridgeport, Conn. native poured in 21 points.

It was an all-around good night for GPC as 10 different players registered points.

“At this point we hope everything’s getting us ready for the playoffs,” an upbeat head coach James Waldon said after the game.

The Jaguars hit the road again this Saturday as they travel to Albany, Ga. to take on the Darton College Cavaliers.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
