By virtue of a coin toss the GPC Jagaurs will host Albany Tech in the quarterfinals of the GCAA playoffs this Tuesday.
The Jags finished the season with a 12-4 mark in league play, which tied them with Darton for the second best record.
Because the two teams split their regular season match ups and subsequent tiebreakers, a coin flip was necessary to decide the seeding.
GPC won both games versus Albany Tech in the regular season, a 76-53 victory at home on Jan. 17 and a 69-40 victory in Albany on Feb. 11.
The victory on Jan. 17 was highlighted by stout defense and a solid game by GPC’s Ronita Garrett.
The freshman from McDonough, Ga. poured in 20 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the floor and also grabbed eight rebounds.
GPC forced Albany Tech into 28 turnovers, resulting in 38 points for the Jags.
If the Jaguars are going to defeat Albany Tech for the third time this season— a tough feat in any sport— they are going to have to contain All-Region forward/center Bianca Fennessee.
Fennessee lit the Jags up on Jan. 17 with 19 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.
The quarterfinal tilt is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 21 and will be played at Panther Arena on the Decatur campus.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6p.m.
