Jaguars softball hits a win

By Rhett Lewis

The GPC Jaguars’s softball team rode the right arm of starting pitcher Lauren Bell to victory versus Gordon College on April 3.

The sophomore tossed a three hitter in a 4-2 victory that completed a doubleheader split versus their conferance rivals from Barnesville.

The win snapped a three game mini skid that featured two home losses to Waycross College and the first game of the double dip versus Gordon.

Stephanie Satterfield and Kacie Patterson paced the Jags on offense as they combined for five hits in the victory.

GPC plated three runs in the top of the eighth inning and would hang on in the bottom half to win it.

With the win the Jags moved to 21-12 on the season, which includes a 10-4 record in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association play.

The Jags travel to Milledgeville, Ga. on Thursday, April 12, for a doubleheader versus Georgia Military College before returning home for their season finale on Saturday, April 14.

The doubleheader versus Emory University is scheduled to start at noon.

All sophomores will be recognized at the game as well as head coach Coach Ed Shute, who will be leaving the program following the season after 15 years on the bench.

All GPC home games are played at the Newton campus in Covington, Ga..

Admission is free with a student ID.
