Fall soccer preview

The GPC women’s soccer team is looking to build on a strong 2011 campaign, in which the team went undefeated until the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association tournament final. GPC begins the season ranked 17th in the National Junior College Athletic Association. The Jaguars open with four straight region road games, including a Sept. 7 trip to Albany to avenge their only loss against defending GCAA champion Darton College, ranked second in the NJCAA. GPC returns for a home opener against Gordon College Sept. 11.

The GPC men’s soccer team will try to find its way back to the national tournament after last season ended with an overtime loss to rival Darton in the GCAA tournament final. The eighth-ranked Jaguars open the season with a four-game homestand, highlighted by a visit from third-ranked Darton on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. The team’s first road trip will take them to 20th-ranked Spartanburg Methodist.
